   I was workin with a company which used to give call to people and say that the had won the Gold coin(Their mobile number won it) and call both the couple to come to collect it
   And when some 1 comes then they start sellin all nonsense endowment plan , and you knw wht happens next

   yeah, same kind of sales idea happened with me too. I have been informed that we won 3 night holiday at bla bla bla. The only condition i have to visit their office to collect thevoucher. :))

   Rightly said by ramesh. Most of the practical stuffs are discussed in forums. I have seen companies announcing free drawing competation for kids – condition is simple both parents should accompany.

   You know the rest what happens.–

   It is a Sales pitch (that too, officially acknowledged as pointed by Ashesh).

   Better spend your time reading a nice book or subramoney.com (or any other). There will only be Salespeople there (not someone who knows an iota of financial planning). Poor guys have to justify paying snapdeal.com and their investment in that seminar, isn’t it.

   Every insurer wants to sell ULIPs as insurance+investment solution.

   I believe, the onus is on us to make this conversation fruitful, if chosen.

      Dear Kapil, there is nothing wrong in such offers except the fact, most of the time, people ‘ll fall for shrt term gains or some rosy calculations with out realizing their actual needs.

   Thanks Kapil, I also came across this FREE financial planning offer. What I found odd is they talk about is the “Offer Details” say:

   “Use this session to plan your finances better and get insurance solutions specific to your financial needs from HDFC Life insurance and investment experts.”

   They are talking about “financial planning” as a whole but offering only “insurance solutions”. wink wink 😉
