Is the demat account unique for single investor if he want to operate with multiple DP ?

Hi This is more of a general knowledge question. With falling crude prices I am looking to buy some units of crude oil (international). So is it possible through any ETF or mutual fund ? I believe it should be possible with a demat account; though I don’t know how. Thanks Nikhil
