Good news for EPF account holders. Now you can check your Employee provident fund balance online using the new e-passbook service by EPFO website. EPFO has introduced a new concept called “EPF Account Passbook” , which will allow EPF Account holders to download their EPF Balance passbook at any time they want, which means you can now do EPF balance enquiry each month and see how its increasing.
How to register for Employee Provident Fund e-Passbook?
Here are 4 simple steps to register for the Employee Provident Fund e-passbook online and after that you can do the EPF Balance enquiry anytime you want.
Step 1 : Register yourself on the website
The first step is to go to the e-passbook members website - http://members.epfoservices.in/ and click on registration link. Once you are taken to the next page .
Step 2 : Generate your PIN and login
You will be taken to next page where you need to provide details like
- Mobile number
- Date of Birth (make sure it matches with EPF records)
- One of the documents mentioned in the drop-down
- Name and Number on the document (Like PAN card and the PAN Number)
Then you need to click on “Get PIN” button to generate a PIN which will arrive on your mobile and email. This PIN is required to for authorization every time you want to download the e-passbook and check your Employee Provident Fund Balance . At this point of time you will need to LOGIN again which will take you to the main page where you can do your EPF balance enquiry and download the e-passbook.
Step 3 : Download the EPF Passbook which has your balance
Now on this page, you need to go to option which says “Download E-passbook” and under that click on “Download E-passbook”, It will ask for the state where your establishment is covered like Maharashtra , Karnataka, Delhi etc etc .. Once you click on the state, it will ask you to choose the exact EPF Office.
Step 4 : Enter your EPF details
Now you need to enter your EPF account number and name of the account holder, and click on “GET PIN” , which will generate the PIN on the fly which will come on your phone and email. You need to now enter this PIN below and you can download the PDF which has your current Employee Provident Fund Balance and other details. Make sure you do not close this page unless you get the PIN. On of our Financial Coaching Client Jassi tried this whole thing and his experience was good
I followed the same steps. Yes the PIN is received in your mobile after some time, so one needs to be patient. And the page should not be closed until one receives the PIN, to access further. After receiving the PIN, log in to the application. If e-passbook is available, it should be shown immediately. Otherwise, one might have to wait. – On Email from Jassi
Checking your Employee Provident Fund Balance from time to time ?
Now with this method you can keep checking your EPF account balance from time to time , you can check it each month after your salary is deducted and some days pass, or you can also check your PF balance on a quarterly or yearly basis, whatever works for you. Sample EPF e-Passbook
Below is a sample EPF passbook which you can view and download. It shows how EPF e-passbook looks like and different entries made by the employer. But you will see only those entries which were uploaded and updated by your employer. It might happen that some people see their old data only.
12 Important points to know about EPF ePassbook
Here are some of the very important things you should know about the Employee Provident Fund e-passbook facility.
1. One Mobile number
One mobile number can be used for one registration only. However you can change this mobile number later if you want , so incase your mobile number changes, no worries.
2. One EPF account per establishment
You will be able to view only one EPF account details per establishment, means if you have two EPF accounts under Maharashtra (suppose you had a job in Mumbai and Pune) , then you will not be able to view both of them, In that case you will need to first transfer one EPF to another. However you can view your EPF account details which is under different establishments like say one in Karnataka , Maharastra and Delhi (suppose you had 3 jobs)
3. Total 10 EPF accounts can be viewed
A total of 10 EPF account details can be viewed under different establishments. I think its very fair logic, because in all probabilities, a person will not have more than 10 EPF accounts in several establishment, if he has, no one can help him anyways 
4. Inoperative & Settled EPF accounts details not available
If someone’s EPF account is inoperative (it happens if you leave the job and for 3 yrs there is no activity in your EPF account, even the interest will not be credited to that account), or the account is settled (you withdrew the amount already) , then your details will not be available. Tip – You can file a RTI application for your EPF queries and get them answered.
5. Details on request if you left the job before Mar 2012
If you have left your job before Mar 2012, then your EPF account may not be seeing any credit in past few months, in that case he will not be able to see the Employee provident fund details immediately, but it can be requested on the website (you will see a link) and that will be uploaded in few days.
6. Available only if employer has uploaded Electronic Challan Cum Return of May 2012 onwards
This facility is available only to those whose employers have uploaded the Electronic Challan cum return for May 2012 onwards, Electronic Challan is a way of submitting the employee’s contribution to EPFO online, which is recently introduced by EPF organisation .
7. No need to remember user id and password
There is no user id and password, all you need is your mobile number, document name and document number, which we all remember anyways. At the time of downloading your EPF Balance passbook, you will need to generate the PIN online which will be sent to your phone, this will reduce the chances of fraud
8. Private EPF trusts not eligible
Those employees who have their EPF with private PF trusts (or called as establishments exempted under the EPF Scheme) will not enjoy the benefit of this e-passbook facility, hence they will not be able to check their employee provident fund balance online using this.
9. Use multiple id’s to register
You can add several documents like Driving license, passport, ration card etc in the same account, this way you dont need to remember just one document id and its number, you can login using any of those which you are carrying at that time.
10. Details and Entries in the EPF passbook
Month and date wise transactions made in member’s account will be displayed in the pass book from the year for which the annual accounts were updated for the establishment for the first time since computerisation of the concerned field office. For example if the first annual accounts of member’s establishment were updated for the year 2008-09 by the concerned field office after its computerisation, the pass book will display the opening balance for year 2008-09 and all transactions thereafter.
11. Error while Downloading the passbook
While downloading your EPF passbook, you might see an error saying “YOU HAVE ENTERED INVALID MEMBERS ID OR NAME”.
Please check whether you have entered the correct code & account number and/or name. In case yes, the name may not be matching as per the record in epfo. In such case the member has to contact the concerned epfo office. At times some entries from EPF passbook might be missing, in which case, the member should check first with the employer whether the returns for the month/year related to the missing entry has been submitted by him to the concerned epfo office. In case yes then he/she can contact the concerned epfo office regarding the missing details.
12. Not getting the PIN on your mobile ?
Ideally you should get the PIN on your mobile as soon as you click on “Get PIN” , but if you dont get it fast, it means the lines are busy and you should wait for more time and re-try !
Tip : Use Chrome instead of other browsers, Some components are running smoothly on Chrome, but not on other browsers .

It’s a good site and everything…but at the end, I got a message saying sorry that they couldn’t generate the report for me and flashed a button to submit my request and then asked me to check back in 3 days. They also said I would get an SMS once it is generated.
Hoping that this was a genuine workflow and I will sure get that SMS in the next 2-3 days.

But I know the reason that there may be my organisation is not filed our payment through e-filing from May 2012 onwards. Still my organisation is filing the return manually. Recived the sms in fraction of second.could finish the registration in less then a minute.
Seems PPF office is doing some inovative methods to bring the changes in the way they used to work.

I think i got the cause of this error:-
The details are updated by PF office once a year.
Seems my details have yet not been uploaded as I joined August last year. Have to wait few more months and will check thereafter.

I checked my EPF e-Passbook a week back. Initially it wasn’t available but EPF office/application took the request and made it available in 3 days. It has line-wise details as shown in screenshot above. Some good work coming thru finally …

Few of my colleagues are facing problem because for them PF number starts with KN/18***/*** . They dont have PF number like KN/MYS or etc….

Earlier any organization in state of Karnataka was assigned an establishment code starting with KN. e.g. KN/12345. However,when computerization of EPF offices started, they were given a different code. For example, an establishment having a code like KN/12345 will have a code PY/KRP/12345 if its account is maintained at Sub-regional office KR Puram Whitefiled(KRP) office under Regional Office Peenya(PY). So, to know the new code of an organization, search the organization on EPFO website (link is http://59.180.233.229/estt_search/est_search.php), The search result will show the establishment’s old code as well as new code.

Any initiative to get our data online by PF office goes down the drain as their IT does not seem to be capable of handling this much load. Like all the folks mentioned in comments, I am also getting error:
“Your e-Passbook request has been accepted. You shall be intimated on SMS when the same is available. You can check back after 3 days.”
And I am not too hopeful if I will get the e-Passbook even after 30 days. Last time they created a website to send your balance via SMS. It had accounts updated up until 4 years back. An organization handling so many crores of rupees can’t put together 1 simple service online. So much for government service.

My passbook is also updated till Mar 2012. Ideally, it should have entries updated till last month. But, currently it is not showing due to 2 reasons, as per my knowledge:
1) Member accounts are still not updated in lots of PF offices. There is still a huge backlog. EPFO has mandated its offices to update pending accounts by 30-Sep-2012.
2)Not all employers are submitting e-challan as mandated by EPFO.
It will take time for things to be stable. In future, I hope we can see our passbook updated till last month.
Also I think not all employers will update things on monthly basis, some might update on quarterly basis or worst half yearly basis, I am not sure what are the rules on that , but just guessing this .

then in the PF site I enter 12345 in first field, leave the second one blank and put 67890 in third one.

As I see in my PF statement, the Account Number is KN/19XXX/677XX.
When I click on the link “DOWNLOAD E-PASSBOOK”, in the next screen I select the state as ‘Karnataka’ and in the next step I am not sure what ‘Office Name’ I have to select for ‘Select your EPFO Office’? could you please clarify what ‘EPFO Office’ I have select based on my above PF details?
Also, if I tried selecting ‘EPFO Office’ as ‘BANGALORE’ or ‘MYSOREROAD’ then in the screen that follows, if I give details like ‘Account Number’, ‘Name as of PF Slip’ then I get error message saying “You have entered invalid Member ID or Name”. Could you please clarify why am I getting such error message?
To know under which PF office’s jurisdiction your company belongs, search on EPFO website (link is http://59.180.233.229/estt_search/est_search.php). In the search result, see the value under field “EPFO Office”. You have to select this office.

Contact your employer they will have all the details. You can fill the PF withdrawal slip and your PF should be credited to your account in about six months. I have done it in the past.

You first need to find out your PF number , and then you can withdraw it on your own !
Please tell me how i can withdraw it without contacting my previous comapny as I left it without their permission.
I guess it is difficult to withdraw without contacting your previous employer because there are set of forms which need to be filled (one by the employer too). You can contact your nearest Provident Fund office and get the information to withdraw.
I also left the company without approval of employer….somehow i managed to get the EPF acc Number and then i submitted withdrawal request . Authorities told me to get the form verified by employer. I told them the truth. They suggested to get the Forms attested by a gazzatted officer and then i got the withdrawal amount in my account in a week….One thing only is needed that it Account Number ….

That’s what the reply I got from the EPF authorities here in Bangalore. I had not renewed EPF from one of my old companies. Now it has closed down and when i checked with EPF they said from 3 A needs to be filled by the employer.
I am working on this article .. please wait for some time , but for a quick answer , you can notarize it or take signature from some gazzatted officer and send .
Alternatively, check you EPF Balance in http://www.epfindia.com/MembBal.html . Remember. this just gives your balance and is much quicker.

Its working for me. I registered on 25th July. When I tried to download I got the messaged that you e-passbook will be available in next 3 working days. I got a message after approx 10 working days and was able to check my balance in pdf format..

My PF number as per the salary slip is MH/424/20041146
However when I input details in EPFI website it says the account number should be of seven digits where as my employee id (20041146) is eight digits. I tried all permutations of inputs but it gives the error.

I got this information some 10 days back…..i immediately accessed the portal logged on and it said your EPF passbook is not ready. Once it will b ready, an SMS will be sent to you for information. Next week i got an SMS that my EPF passbook is ready…..i login and downloaded….it was an amazing experience to saw my EPF account first time in my 10 year job…in last 10 year my employer never gave me any information on EPF balance. So now i saw it live officially….once 2-3 years back i got all this info by RTI

My employer don’t deposit the EPF amount regularly. I checked that during 1.5 years, they have only deposited the EPF amount for 1 month. Still now, I am continuing the job with this employer. So when I quit this employer’s job, they would deposited all pending amount in my EPF. In that case, shall I get the cumulative interest on that EPF amount? Please give your valuable information.

Employee will keep getting the interest on EPF , but only till 3 yrs of inactivity , after that he will not get and the account will be marked as “DORMANT”

I got it and checked for my office staff for Mumbai & even uploaded example of Karnataka , everywhere it is showing less contribution for complete a year from April 2011 till March 2012, entries are missing. before April 2011, we can see entry for Mar 2011 and after March 2012, we can see entry for April 2012 , May 2012 but complete a Year’s contribution is MISSING.
I think thats purely an issue with your employer, so better check with your finance department

I am very much sure that i have done correctly……I work for Mindtree and it is under RR nagar sub EPFO office.
I think it would be better if the EPF authorities update their accounts. As of now its updated only until 31/03/2011 which is about a year and half behind. This will benefit members a lot as they will get the latest balance on their EPF.

You mean your PF document which you get from Company ? Looks like yes, its a private PF trust and in that case you wont be able to use this particular service!

I am able to download my e passbook.But in e-passbook there is few issue can you please answer my below question.
1)I am able to see record from 01/04/2010 to 01/03/2011 and from 01/04/2012 to 01/06/2012 .But there is no record from 01/04/2011 to 01/03/2012.
2)I can see the record which got transferred from my last employer but there is 0 rs mentioned for pension fund(EPS).

But like Abhishek and others pointed out, my statement also has records missing exactly between Apr 2011 & Mar 2012. I see your suggestion to use RTI to get detailed answers on this issue, but i haven’t used RTI till now

I got the e-Passbook exactly on the 3rd day after submitting the request but the data has been updated only for the last financial year (01-04-2011 to 01-03-2012). Does anyone know how often the data gets updated in PF database? Thanks.
In that case your EPF jurisdiction office has not updated the details till date . File a RTI for this to get details !
Thanks Mansih for this info. I followed this and was able to download my EPF Passbook updated till 24th July 2012. This is really helpful as you can see your details EPF as well as EPS statement.
For me the joining date for both EPF and EPS is showing wrong. I am thinking to submit an RTI to get it corrected. Last time I submitted an RTI application to transfer my EPF amount from my last organization to my new organization and it works really well. It get transfered within one month of submitting the application.

I have verified that the Account Number is valid and also I am entering my name as in the physical slip I have (Although this slip is 4-5 years old, when the account id was in older format).
Can you share the format of name in general?
My old PF slip(govt. PF folks distributed them in our office couple of years back!) shows without any space in between. I am assuming issue could be the way/case used by the server. Although I have tried multiple formats, but no luck…

I have a question – In my EPF Statement there is no data available for one year i.e. April-2011 to Mar-2012 then its showing one contribution in April-2012 and another in June-2012.

Manish, I have switched to a diff company now and I have used a my old PF acct during the registration. How will I change it to the new account. Will the PF dept update it after transfer is complete ? Currently, I am not able to download either of them. Please advise. Thanks !
You dont have to change it , you can just register once more for the new EPF account and look at that !

You EPF account is now dormant , as there has been no activity after 3 yrs of your job change . You will now have to withdraw it or transfer it to your new EPF account

Is your PF under a private trust ? How are you entering the data ?
It is in Pvt firm. But I have one doubt abt the same I changed my previous organisation 3 months before at that time same mobile number was attached with that account and when i joined a new organisation i transfer the old account into new account which is in process. Is that affecting for the same.
Because it seems like that same mobile number is going to be use for two different account number

I have one more query regarding this.

You are providing sensitive information like your PAN card number or Aadhar Number when you register as well as when you login. Sending them in clear text without any encryption is definitely not a secure way.
You can put a complain to EPFO on this . I am sure this will be a big concern for many !

I registered on EPF Member portal for e-passbook with the my PAN number which I entered incorrectly.
As per the FAQ’s in the website to change the incorrect PAN number, I updated my profile with other documents details like PASSPORT and Driving Licence, Then logged in with PASSPORT login to change the incorrect PAN number, but I am unable to change the PAN Number, the field itself is not editable.
As per FAQS in the website, after logging in with other documents details one cand edit the incorrect PAN. Let me know how can I change the incorrect PAN number entered.

I dont think there is any shortcut for this, many people have got the sms for their passbook and it might take more time in your case. If you need the information urgently about something in your EPF , in that case you should use RTI !

hi! manish i have gone through the comments of all the epf holders and liked it. i also work in a private company ACES INFOTECH PVT LTD. in kolkata. i had joined the company on 26th of july 2006 and worked till 31 st of august 2012. my pf account is updated till march 31st 2011. after that whenever i check my balance the data shows that it is updated till march 31 st 2011 only. i have also registered for my e -passbook details which will be confirmed later in the SMS within 3 days. i think my company has not updated my balance after march 31st 2011. how can i get my details of the rest 1yr i.e after march 31st 2011. kindly help.

Manish it it is good one. I was serching to know my PF balance, not getting information. I have submitted relavent forms through our HO office. It has come back saying that need User ID, where shall we get this.

Today i have registered opted the same. I have sent relevant papers to old employer, they also sent to PF office. recently PF office personals sent back papers & asked them to send user ID. what it means, where to get it. the concern person is personally visiting PF office for clarification. in the mean time i saw the answers given to many more. so i asked you.

Hi Manish, I have a PF account in my old employer and I used to check the balance using the “Check EPF balance online” via SMS. I have been with old employer for abt 5 years. Now I have moved onto another company and requested for a transfer of my old PF to new PF account.
I am with the new company for abt 1.5 year. I am unable to view the balance in new PF account using my phone number as it says “This phone number is registered to another PF….”
How am I supposed to check the balance via SMS for the new PF account ? Please suggest.

I have registered my account and logged in fine, but when I try to obtain a report, it says “You have entered invalid Member ID or Name”. My PF account number is like TN/4xxxx/023xxx. I have made sure I am entering the numbers in the correct boxes, and also my name exactly as it is in the company records (as well as several combinations). I joined this company in April 2012, is it because of that? Someone mentioned in this section the company sends the data to the EPFO once in a year, so should I just wait until next year?
The EPFO seems to be doing something in the name of computerization but somehow they just don’t get it right. Earlier they setup a system of obtaining the PF balance on SMS, I really doubt whether it has actually worked for anyone. It didn’t work for me as well scores of people that I know.

I have indicated name mistake in the slips received by me consistently received by me during a short course of time although the pf deductions went on along with the service.
Later, during my follow up for PF claim after my resignation,
I was assured by my pf agent and the pf officer that the corrected name as quoted in the claim form will be considered irrespective of previous mistakes in the slips.

Please check whether you have entered the correct code & account number and/or name. In case yes, the name may not be matching as per the record in epfo. In such case the member has to contact the concerned epfo office. At times some entries from EPF passbook might be missing, in which case, the member should check first with the employer whether the returns for the month/year related to the missing entry has been submitted by him to the concerned epfo office. In case yes then he/she can contact the concerned epfo office regarding the missing details.

a)If a pf contribution stops ,crosses the dormancy period (irrespective of the firm status or employee stays/leaves) .
b)Delay caused during the processing of claim both due to
submitted and not submitted/located records either or both of them causing a delay and crossing the dormancy period after submission
For a Dormant account,
1.HOW TO GET information about its DORMANT status (eg via site, customersupprt,epf office) for fututre follow up ?
2.Does the claim still remain active if not how to activate it again ?

In your case EPF becomes dormant only after 01 JAN 2013
Since you have initiated the claim within this period (21 Mar 11) even if there is a delay in transferring the PF accumulations to new account/withdrawal. You would get the interest on your EPF amount.

Further please clarify ,if the application is still liable for dormancy in case the communication/submission between the epf office and the firm regarding the requirement of documents eg form 3-A,6-A,(collective deduction report format) ,CD consumes time ? Note that, the individual PF deduction form 3-A in this case for the claim is already submitted around 2 years 11 months back.
The collective records are not found by the new staff members of the firm currently.
What is an alternative solution to this problem ?

RTI is the best thing in this situation, you will only get authentic information from there !
ANy EPF account which is not active from last 3 yrs is Dormant anyways … you can now transfer it to your new EPF account

HI MANISH /DEENA AND OTHER EXPERTS regarding the recently launched
dormancy procedures for claimed epf accounts.
Pl answer my following queries after reading the various Qs and As quoted above.
for the following case :
An individual ex employee has filled epf claim form.
All 3A forms have been submitted by the claimant showing only his individual epf /pension deductions in 3A format along with his pf claim form .(for last 4 years of the servive period)
It is discovered that,for a certain year , details of pf deductions of the eligible staff for that year i.e. forms 3-A,6-A and hence a CD in turn are required of his last
4 years service period. The details are unavailable recently.
The claim is also nearing to its dormancy status due to delay in submission.
Now My questions are,
1>What is a alternate solution to this problem to reduce the claim time? in the absence of details ?
2>Can the dormancy be avoided by letting the employee deposit the minimum/medium/maximum amount to his account against his pf no?(i.e. can it become a single side pf deposit account case ?) if yes how ??
3>What is the future of such prolonged dormant accounts? How these claims are to be settled by an individual?/by the nominee /by the family member ?
4> Is account liable to be for fitted ? if yes when??

Hii Manish. I am finding a problem in viewing and downloading my EPF-e-passbook. In step 4 that u have told. When i am entering my EPF account number and other details , when i click on get pin it is not generating pin instead it was showing amessge that the above details are incorrect. Hi, Thanks for sharing this information. I created an account in September and I was able to generate passbook. But do you know how to re-generate passbook again with latest information. When I login now it’s showing me the old book (Generated in September), there is no way I can generate again.

I downloaded the statement in mid Aug 2012 which has contributions included till June 2012. And for the last contribution of June 2012, the ‘Updated On’ date in 2nd column of statement is of mid July 2012. Also, by checking the ‘Updated On’ dated for last couple of months’ contributions; it seems that contributions are being done regularly and updated without much of delay.
However, I have been trying to get the latest statement since last 3 months but have been getting the older statement I downloaded in mid Aug 2012 (for Contribution till June 2012).
I also tried ‘http://www.epfindia.com/MembBal.html’ to know the latest balance but for me it is showing even older balance i.e. till March 2012 only.
Is there any other way to get the latest statement/balance figure or I should continue to periodically try downloading the statement again?
that simply means that your data is not uploaded by EPF department . It will mostly be old only ! . Its time to file an RTI now

My problem is slightly different. I was able to get epf balance informatiosn through SMS earlier (till a month back). Now I registered for e-passbook, like others first time I got message that e-passbook will be available in 3 days.
But suddenly I see that even balance information through SMS is also not working and same is case for downloading e-passbook. I just get “Invalid Member ID”. I am using the same account number and name, which was working earlier for chcking balance throuhg SMS?
What could be wrong… please help.
Also I notice that I don’t see entry field for “Name as on PF Slip” while downloading e-passbook.
i guess the sms thing is temporary , if you want the authentic info, nothing else other than RTI would work !
I am facing the same problem as you described. it was working with sms earlier. now after submitting the passbook request and getting sms mentioning that the passbook is ready, all request to epf ends with “Invalid member ID”. by the way its for AP/HYD EPFO.
Please let me know if any of you managed to overcome the issue.

Thanks for the tutorial. I followed the steps as is 15 days back and got a SMS last week that my EPassbook has been made available and is ready to be downloaded.
Now, when I login and click on the download epassbook tab, enter the PF number (format is AP/HYD/12345/123) – as 12345 in the 1st text box, leaving the 2nd text box blank and then entering 123 in the 3rd text box. Typed in the captcha and clicked on Get Pin.
As opposed to what many others who got a message ” You have entered invalid Member ID or Name”, I get a message ” You have entered invalid Member ID”
I waited for a week, guessing that this might take some time but it continues to remain the same as of today. My PF account was opened in July 2011 (as I started my professional career then). I had earlier been able to get the PF balance from :- http://epfoservices.in/epfo/member_balance/member_balance.php earlier, but now I get the message Invalid Member_id / Data not updated against this AP/HYD/12345/123
Not sure what to do in this case ,you might want to take help of RTI now to move ahead

It’s been over 40 days since my documents were submitted(by post) to the epfo office in South Delhi by my employer(all duly filled). However, there has been no update in the claim status records(not even that your documents have been accepted, received, rejected, etc.).
Can you tell what is the usual time they take for the FIRST update? Also, how much time they take till the funds are finally transferred?

I joined an organisation in Sep 2011 and applied for PF tranfer from previous org.. I was able to check the status of the xfer and it said “settled”. However, when I tried to check my current (new) PF balance using EPF website or E passbook portal, I couldn’t due to Invalid member id error.
I believe this error is coz EPF website is updated till March 2011 (not sure), hence missing my PF no. Can you please assist on how can I check the balance. Let me know if you need any further details.

Thanks for the nice info. Basically I need your suggestion/opinion related to PF withdrawal / transfer. I completed 4 years in a Company Y but I have not withdrawal or transfer my PF from old Company X. So my question is can I withdraw PF amount or transfer it to my new account no?
Is it possible to transfer account after 4 or more years by filling Form 13 (Revised) ? Anyway I will not get any interest after 3 years .
4. Inoperative & Settled EPF accounts details not available
If someone’s EPF account is inoperative (it happens if you leave the job and for 3 yrs there is no activity in your EPF account, even the interest will not be credited to that account), or the account is settled (you withdrew the amount already) , then your details will not be available. Tip – You can file a RTI application for your EPF queries and get them answered.

Manish, I work for Nokia Siemens network. I view my PF statement on http://www.dkmonline.com. In the statement i can see the trust as “SIEMENS PUBLIC COMM. NETWORKS PVT. LTD. EPF TRUST” and also my PF no in KN/XXXXX/XXXXX format. I tried to download the e-passbook from EPFO website, whenever i enter my PF no it says invalid member ID. My question is whether “SIEMENS PUBLIC COMM. NETWORKS PVT. LTD. EPF TRUST” is a private trust and they are authorized to maintain the EPF accounts of their employees and my PF statement can be only viewed/download from company approved vendor (DKM). And i cannot view/download my PF statement from EPFO as they don’t have my details and that is the reason i am getting a error message like invalid member ID ?

Yes, you will not be able to look at it at EPFO website .. you can do it only from company website as its maintained by company

And the major LION’s shares belongs to EPF department. As per the RBI instructions, the Banks have started giving the names of their inoperative accounts in their respective websites. I had some issue here. I registered in this website and it is showing this error message when I tried to download my pass book.
“Please check whether you have entered correct account number.If yes, then details of the entered account number is not available at the portal for verifying the account number as it is not uploaded by the concerned EPFO Office. You may contact the concerned PF Office that maintains your account.”
I had eneterd the details correct as suggested by my company hr only. Can u please guide me on how to proceed now.

I am a active RTI member and got my PF transferred through RTIs multiple time and very efficiently.
Now I have a doubt that we cannot get the latest copy of the passbook if you get it once.
To explain it better say I downloaded the passbook on 01/Aug/2012 and I want to get the details of transaction after my last download. Currently there is no way you can get as it will alsways show the last PDF for downloading.
Please check and let me know if I am doing something wrong.
If does not work out anyway RTI is always there.
Its not like that I guess. The thing is the data is not uploaded properly on timely basis. Seems like they still have the old data there ! , only when they upload the new data , then you will get new PDF

For the following months i could not find my and Employer contributions.
04(April)-2011 To April 2012.

During INITIAL registration , I gave my Passport number in the place of Driving License. I tried editing my Driving Number in my second login , by getting in through my PAN Number . Yet I am unable to edit the initially given Driving License Number .
How can I edit the blocked Driving License Number category .
Will it pose a problem , while withdrawing the PF money after my service for providing false information ? Kindly help

I have downloaded my e-passbook.
I have registered with the portal on 8/03/2013 ever since i have tried several times to download my e-passbook but teh portal is popping up the same message.
“Your pass book is not available on the portal. Your request has been recorded. Based on the request the concerned EPFO Office will upload the pass book. You will get an SMS for downloading it once the pass book is available on the portal.”

As I said, you will have to wait for some time for it to be available. some people in my office waited for 2 months before it was available. So it works , its only that it may take time. And I think there’s nothing you can do to speed it up , so dont worry about that
I generated my passbook and was able to download the same. Although it took around 1 month and a week for the passbook to be available on the website. Couple of other colleagues of mine also had to wait for many weeks before the passbook was available. So , be patient.
The passbook also doesn’t get updated with each contribution. When I go again after a month to get the latest one, it simply shows me the earlier one only. Dont know how much time do they usually take to update entries.
