ONHI to all,
I’m new here so i really don’t know how this works. Just wanted to ask where to invest 4 lacs ?
FD has interest rate of 9% per annum but TDS will be charged.
Also i came across POST office monthly income scheme the interest rate is 8.30% for 3 years and the interest earned monthly can be reinvested in RD. This is looking best right now. What do you guys think ?
I also got a phone call from PNB where in they were selling this Max endowment plan where in rate of interest is around 11%. I pay them 30k annually for 5 years & i would get around 230000 . Is that a safe bet ?
I had bad experience in equity and MF’s where in interest gained wasn’t much so please advise
Thanks in adv.

Dear Anish, please try to understand. Say you are the fund manager of that Max endowment plan. Now if you want to give me 11% return on my investment, what should be the actual return to you to cover all your costs + some profit to run the show?
At least you need to generate 14-15% return yly, regularly. Is this possible? Please try to answer this question and you ‘ll get the answer for your original question that should I invest in this policy or not.
Thanks
Ashal
Where do you invest depends on the amount of time you want the money to be invested.
Different schemes for 1 month, 1 year, 10 years etc.
What is your investment timeframe?
Agents promise a lot. Do not trust blindly. Ask for proof. 11% seems unlikely. Do not fall for it.
Interest from post office monthly income scheme is taxable. Take note of that.
Thanks for the reply, timeframe is anything b/w 3 years to 5 years span. I wasn’t aware that tax would be charged on Post office monthly income scheme.
What should i do ? Diversify ?
Dear Anish, please read in betwen the lines of my previous reply. Please try to know the reason of bad performance in your Eq. MFs? Was it for you only? Was it really bad performance?
Thanks
Ashal
Dear Anish, please invest in that Max product and after 3-5 years come back here asking the same question that I’m not getting enough return. Who is going to pay tax on your POMIS + RD combo?
Thanks
Ashal
thanks, but what do u suggest then?
