What is the maximum age limit to open a PPF account, if any? 15 year lock period is fine, but would like to know if it is allowed?

Hello Mr. Patel, The minimum age limit to open the PPF Account is 18 years. However, there is no maximum age limit. The only point we should be careful about is that the money will be locked in for 15 years irrespective of the age you open the PPF Account.

Hello Mr. Ranjit, there is no upper age limit to open a PPF Account. However, there is a lock-in period of 15 years. You won’t be able to withdraw money before 15 years under any circumstances.

There is no behalf here. You can only assist your mother to open HER account, you wont be putting your own details anyways
Dear Charu, from a new born baby (under her legal guardian) to a very Sr. citizen aged 80-90 or even 100Y are allowed to open PPF. Once the initial 15Y lock in period is over, one has the option to extend the account for a block of 5Y multiple times. So practically once the PPF account is open, it may run for next 60-75-80Y if one so desires.
