Should I surrender LIC Jeevan Surabhi and then Invest in PPF ?

POSTED BY Krishna ON March 19, 2014 9:23 pm COMMENTS (10)

Hi,

I have a money back policy from LIC, paid 4 premiums (yearly 32161) so far and the policy tenure is 15 yrs and the premium tenure is 12 yrs out of which 4 is already done.

Now I am considering to surrender this policy and invest this on PPF for my kid education.

Is that a good decision or should i continue the policy.?

Regards,

Krishna

Dear Krishna, I’m investing my personal money in Eq. funds (not the one listed by you). If you are agree to carry the risk involved in Eq. investing, please invest in the fund of your choice.

    Thanks

      Hi Ashal,

I understand equity funds hence i opted to invest in them rather than continuing LIC policy, however just wanted your views on this fund as it was doing good from last 5 yrs, I know HDFC Top200 and Franklin India Blue Chip are long time winners.

      Thanks

    Hi Ashal,

How about this one ?. ICICI-Prudential-Focused-Bluechip-Equity-Fund it seems to have given good returns in past 5 years

Dear Krishna, surrender is better than paid up as under paid up option, money ‘ll not earn any more on the defined PU value. But inc ase of surrender, you can earn more by investing elsewhere.

    thanks

Hey Ashal thanks for the reply. However is it prudent to surrender the policy or make it paid up which is better ?

  7. ashalanshu says:

Dear Krishna, yes if the old PPF account is running, you can use the same for the purpose.

    Thanks

    Hi Ashal,

  9. ashalanshu says:

Dear Krishna, please do note money ‘ll not be available in full after 10-11 years from here on wards in PPF. You may invest in other products like bank FDs, MFs bonds etc.

    Thanks

    Ashal
