Procedure for investing in Mutual Funds?

I want to invest in mutual funds for 10 or 20 years.I am new in this and dont know the procedure for investing in it.please explain which one would be better and how to invest in it.

    You can do everything yourself by investing directly in MFs with the AMC, but since you say you are new, it might be better you go to http://www.fundsindia.com and use their portal.
