ONHello,
I am 22 years old and recently started investing. I have gone through the entire forum and found it very useful. One thing i learnt is not to over diversify. Request you all to review my investment and suggest.
1. HDFC Top 200 – SIP Rs. 3000
2. UTI Opportunities fund – SIP 2000
3. IDFC Premiere equity – SIP 2000
4. BSL MNC Fund – SIP 2000
5. Reliance equity opportunities fund – SIP 1000
6. SBI Magnum emerging business fund – SIP 1000
Should i also consider starting an SIP in HDFC Balanced fund for Rs. 5000?
Thanks
Niraj

Dear Niraj, your own comfort level should decide it. Say 70-30 between Top 200 & Prem. Eq. or 60-40 or 50-50. anything ‘ll work as long as you are comfortable with it. if you are in doubt, opt for 65-35 where higher amount ‘ll go into HT200 & lower into IDFC Prem. Eq.
Thanks
Ashal
Thanks Ashal,
Would also want your suggestion as to how much should be put into 200 and IDFC?
Thanks
Dear Niraj, just 2 funds are more than enough for you. HDFC Top 200 & IDFC Prem. Eq. Please divert all your SIP money into these 2 funds. Stop all other SIPs. Later on transfer money from Balanced to Top 200 & other funds’ money into IDFC Prem. Eq.
Thanks
Ashal
Hi Guys,
I have cut down UTI opportunities fund and reliance opp fund. And my current SIPs are as follows
1. HDFC Top 200 – SIP Rs. 4000
2. IDFC Premiere equity – SIP 2000
3. BSL MNC Fund – SIP 2000
4. SBI Magnum emerging business fund – SIP 2000
5. HDFC Balanced fund – 5000
I notice that HDFC top 200 and balanced fund portfolio has many stocks in common. What should be done?
Want your suggestions if i should discontinue any other fund too. Moreover, i am will to increase the SIPs by 10% every year. Which fund should that be?
I would just say invest in first 3 funds you mentioned thats all !
You have too many funds.
For 10,000 to 15,000, 2-3 funds are more than enough.
HDFC Top 200 (G) – 5,000
IDFC Premier Equity (G) – 3,000
SBI Magnum Emerging business fund (G) 3,000
Yes, You can invest in HDFC Balanced fund. 5,000 SIP is fine.
