PAN Card – Name Change

Hi All, 

 

This is a subsequenet query for my old one.  (http://localhost/jagoforum2/pan-card-surname-firstname/8435/)

When I change(swap) my surname and firstname my PAN number got changed ? 

Note: XXXXNXXXXX – Fifth caracter of pan card represent Surname

      Fill the online application form, make payment and send it to the address given on it or you can submit online if you choose e-kyc option.

    yes you can change your name on PAN Card an can get a new copy of your pan card by

    Thanks Ashal for your update.

    I had applied for PAN card details correction via online and send the documents tomorrow. Once my process will get completed, I’ll share my experience also.

    Hope that will give more clarity on this issue 🙂

    Dear Nagarajan, no the PAN ‘l not change. it ‘ll remain same. Only the data ‘ll change. How is it possible?

    Let me share you an example –

    Say an unmarried lady with surname ‘Verma’ is having a PAN. Now She got married & post marriage her new surname is ‘Sharma’.

    In this case, post marriage her name on record as well as on PAN ‘ll change but her PAN ‘ll not chnage.

    I know this from my personal experience for my friend’s wife. Similar ‘ll be your case. The name ‘ll change but PAN ‘ll remain same as it’s permanent to you.

    But what about my existing reference wherever I used my current PAN number (tax filing, bank, mutual funds, form-16. etc ….)

    Yes , the fifth char is the first letter of the name . the Pan card will surely change !
