Opening a demat account – bank or broker ?

In the process of opening a demat account, should we go through a bank or broker. Read many reviews online about brokers who traded on behalf of clients without their permission. Is a bank the way to go?

    If you give tha PoA (Power of Attorney), then they can trade whether it is a bank or broker…
