Mutual Fund SIP

POSTED BY Market Hypothesis ON January 14, 2011 9:36 pm COMMENTS (4)

I have decided to do SIP every year in different MF for next 10 years on the basis of past performance of MF. I will hold all the units of all mutual funds for long term. Should I invest my money like this way. please advice.

Now, how will you calculate this 3 year performance. In relation to what?

If you think, you will go and select a 5 star fund today and expect it to remain 5 star 3 years from now, you are in for a huge disappointment and your strategy is sure-shot failing strategy! My advice will be to review this policy. 😉

    What funds have you chosen?

How are you going to behave in case of underperformance of your chosen fund?

    1. In case any fund fails to outperform as speculated (calculated) within three years then I will switch over to another fund.

What you have decided is a right choice (choosing the SIP route to go for MF), go ahead and start it soon, although dont only choose the funds on past performance but look for various factors like their expense, etc. Otherwise 10 years is a good choice but also review your portfolio every year and switch or change from your non-performing funds to get better returns.
