ONIf a person is having multiple Health Insurance policies (one from employer and remaining from different Health Insurance companies), then during hospitalization, is it mandatory to provide details of all health insurance policies to hospital? or can we choose which one to submit?
Assumption: Cover provided by any policy is sufficient for current hospital expenses.

Dear Pavan, your interpretation is wrong. What I meant was if you have not disclosed to the group policy provided by your employer that you are also having an individual policy, then only you can file claim with the employer policy only.
In case you are having 2 individual policies, it’s mandatory to file claim with both the insurers & they ‘ll settle your claim on the basis of ratio of respective sum assured in each policy.
Thanks

Hello,
You have mentioned “In case you are having 2 individual policies, it’s mandatory to file claim with both the insurers & they ‘ll settle your claim on the basis of ratio of respective sum assured in each policy.”
Regarding this can you please clarify following cases
1) If company policy is group policy and the one which I have taken is individual policy (not floater) and both from different companies
2) If I have 2 policies one family floater and other individual and both from different companies
Also I think for any claim one need to submit original documents (like discharge certificate, hosptital bill). So if th claim is made for one company then for claiming o other company what is the procedure in the absence of original documents.
Thanks ,
Yogesh
Dear Pavan Avala, In all probability the employer policy is a group policy, hence it’s advisable to file your claims only with this policy. Please do not file claim to your individual policy.
Thanks
Ashal
My interpretation from your reply is that we have a choice in selecting a policy for claiming.
Thanks
Pavan
