monthly or weekly SIP

Hi,

I am starting SIP in Quantum Long TE Fund -, Should I go for monthly SIP or weekly. Obviously weekly SIP will give me more money averaging –hence better, but is there any other points, hidden facts to consider?

  1. Dear Sunil, yes the gains if any from Liquid fund ‘ll be short term capital gains & this is to be added into your income from all sources & you w’d have to pay tax on it as per your slab rate. To calculate your tax liability, you need to calculate your gain amount first from liquid fund sell out. It’s Cumbersome or not, is an individual view.

    thanks

    Ashal,
Please read the first statement as below…

But should we be paying the TAX on interest accumulated while he Money is in Liquid Fund…

If YES, it will be very cumbersome to calculate every month the interest and then pay tax on that calculating your tax slab.

    Please clarify my doubt.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Sunil.

  4. Dear Rajat, sorry for the typo error, Please read your name in place of dear Gotu.

    Thanks

    Ashal

  5. Dear Gotu, STP ‘ll run either there is money in liquid fund to transfer or the term set by you is over, which ever is earlier.

    Thanks

Here are some more queries dancing in my head:-

Do I need to be concerned about the tax deduction here?

Additional Exit load/switching charges plays any role here in this specific Quantam funds?

    Or any other hidden costs?

    Dear Ashal,
that is a great suggestion infact and really attracting me, but it leaves a lot of unanswered questions in my mind as I am not very use to.
Does not it bring some hassle? (I have never STP’d)
Does Quantum liquid fund assure earning more than 4-6% (saving bank acc rate) all ways?
If I invest 1 lakh now in Q- Liquid fund and then STP 2000 monthly, then after the whole investment transfers do I have to again start a new STP investing in Q- Liquid fund?

I may sound too naïve, appreciate your suggestion.

  9. Dear Rajat, if you really want to use the full benefit of averaging, instead of SIP from your bank account. Please invest a lump sum amount into Quantum liquid fund & from there invest either weekly or mly STP to Quantum Long Term Eq. fund.

Disclosure – I’m using the same for my own money. So my views may be biased, please note this.

    Thanks

    Ashal
