ONI am new to this profession of insurance and mutual fund selling.
One thing I have been observing is that all agents are encouraged to earn more and more commissions even at the cost of their client’s interests. They are taught newer and innovative ways of fooling people.
They are appreciated for earning more and more commissions and not for giving best advice to their clients. I really wonder if there are any MDRT, COT, TOT agents who put their clients interests in front of their own commissions.

Dear Swapnil, hard path is not easy to follow but do remember – at the end of the journey, we remember only the ones who opted the hard path not the ordinary folks who chose to opt beaten down path.
My congratulations are with you in advance.
Thanks
Ashal
This is extremely encouraging Manish.
I hope I will be able to fight the temptations of pleasing and impressing my Development Officer, Trainers, Managers and big people in this field at the cost of my client’s Hard Earned money.
Swapnil
Dear Ashal,
I am told that I am too idealistic to succeed in this profession.
I get to hear things like “tu samajsewa karne ke liye agency liya kya?”
I was made to attend lot of trainings (with my fees already paid) of big insurance agents…..
But same story everywhere…….praising and preaching their successful tricks of extracting maximum money from clients.
Never for a minute did I hear in training to act in the best interest of the clients.
They tell me that i am a TOT material ….and all i have to do to succeed is copy successful insurance agents.
I feel whole system of insurance selling is such that none of these big people even feel slightest guilt for fooling people. And they encourage other agents to do the same.
The system appreciate you for bringing in maximum premium and for number of policies u sell.
You get recognized for the commission you earn and not for the number of families you secure financially.
I have decided that I ll not sell anything which I am not fully convinced about myself.
I feel that that every insurance sell for commission keeps door open for someone who does his business ethically. And once he enters, that door is forever closed for shallow unethical insurance sells-men. The agent/adviser working with sole motive of commission is surely going to loose his clients to the more ethical financial adviser.
I am fully convinced that it is far more rewarding to conduct your business ethically than short sighted thinking of selling for the sole motive of commission.
Sincerely,
Swapnil
Thats an amazing sharing from your side Swapnil
It really takes courage to share things like that and acknowledge what you have seen and gone through . I would say you will go miles if you follow this path of service. Yes, there might be others who might bring more premium’s then you, but for sure you will bring more blessings and smiles in this profession and in your life from various families.
You are a true Hero !
Manish
Dear Swapnil, the unfortunate answer is NO. I’m yet to meet an honest agent. You may become the first one. So choice rests with you. 🙂
thanks
