Liability Insurance for Housing Loan

My bank has debited Rs.141600/- to my loan account towards “Liability Insurance”, which I’ve not instructed. Here I want to know whether it is mandatory or we can avoid this,

    Dear Venu, can you elaborate more on this liability insurance thing? Is it meant for life insurance on your life? Please clarify.
