Is maturity amount taxable in 5 yr tax saving FD ?

Hi,

I want to know if the ‘Principal’ amount taxable at maturity for a tax saver Fixed Deposit.

    Dear Amrutha, the principal is not taxable in Tax saver FDs.

    The interest earned on any FD is taxable, and should be paid at the end of the financial year.
