intrest on SBI PPF

Hi manish,

i have a PPF account in SBI since 2010..i am investing 1000/month since then…can i increase the amount to 1000 every?

1. every sbsequent year i want to add 1000/month i.e in 2012 —-2000/month,in 2013 3000/month….in 2014…4000/month.

2.will there be any change in intrest at end of the investment period as per ppf intrest?

3.Wat is the concept of depositing before 5th of every month? hw it affects the interest rate or calculation.

please advise………

    I would advise against investing all 1 lac in PPF per year unless you are ready to lock in that much of amount every year for next 15 years. If you want to invest in PPF, invest only that much which you would not need during this period because once you put it in, you wont be able to access it for 15 years.

    1. you can invest any amount you like, subject to maximum 1 lakh in a financial year and maximum 12 deposits.

    2. every year on 1-april, interest rate for the coming year will be announced.

    3. if you invest before 5th then that amount is also considered for that month’s interest, otherwise it is counted from next month onwards.
