Income tax refund

Dear Sir,
I have received my income tax refund for the assessment year 2011-12—-the refund amount sent by the income tax department being quite less than what I had calculated.
Please inform the procedure for online redressal of the problem.

    Dear Dr. Ramesh, Had you filed online or offline ITR for FY in question? Did you receive any assessment order from income tax office? In all probability, your refund amount has been adjusted against some previous demand. For more details please contact local office for offline case & CPC Banglore for online case. By the way in case of online ITR – the assessment order had been e-mailed to you for sure. Please check the e-mail provided in the ITR.
