I had purchaced a house and myself and wife has taken a joint home loan.however sale deed has been registered in name of my wife only.we both are working and repaying loan jointly.can both of us take income tax rebate.
Dear Sanjeev, Ownership of the house is a precondition to avail any tax benefit on home loan. In your case, you are merely the co-borrower & not the co-owner, hence you can’t claim any tax benefit.
