HRA and Loss on Homeloan benifts in same city

Hi, I have to declare my investments to my employer for this financial year. I have been already showing my housing loan as the loss due to property in my tax declaration. Now I want to add my HRA also to the declaration, but the company policy says that I cannot claim both if both my rental house and my own house are in same city.

I have seen in some websites that if unfortunately the house for which I am paying housing loan interest is far away from my office and hence rented a house nearby my office, I can claim both by showing some “National rental income” form my own house and can claim HRA.

Please guide me on this as I am not sure how to arrive at the rental value. Also doesn’t want to show that, as my parents are living in that house and there is no actual rent from that house for me.

Is there a way for me to claim both HRA and Housing loan interest for tax exemption?

Thanks,

Senthil

Dear Senthil, as your employer is not co-operating, accept the situation as it is and claim both benefits next year at the time of failing the claim from Income Tax department itself.

    Thanks
