Form 15H – For bank deposits, to prevent banks from deducting TDS

What is the authority for using Form 15H by senior citizens above 60 years of age ?

The IDBI Bank states that Form 15H has no change ie it is still for senior citizens above 65 years of age. The reduction in age from 65 to 60 years is only for the purpose of Tax and not for deduction of TDS by Banks. The IDBI Bank insists on Form 15G for individuals below 65 years of age.

For your advice pl.

  1. Dear Williams, It’s not the IDBI bank but I think the branch staff is clueless. Please contact the customer care or higher officials of the bank to sort out the matter. Form 15H is meant for Sr. Citizen & as the age was reduced from 65 to 60, the same is applicable to fill form 15H.

    Thanks
