First time investment in Mutual Fund

POSTED BY Ishaan Sharma ON March 20, 2013 6:11 pm COMMENTS (6)

Greetings to one and all. I am 21 years old and I want to start with an SIP. To begin with, I am planning to invest between Rs.5,000-7,000 per month for a period of 3 years in a Mutual Fund.
As this is the first time I am going to invest in a MF, I need a little guidance.
Can you please advise me on which type of MF to go for, like large cap, large and medium cap, mid and small cap, bluechip, etc? Also, being a beginner, on what basis do i choose between different MFs currently being offered in the market?

Thank you, TheZionView, for your valuable advice.

  2. Dear Ishaan, please invest your time first in reading past discussions here in the forum. You are not the first who is asking this question & certainly not the last one too. 🙂

The good thing in your query is, at such an early age, you are thinking of investment & earning over the long term. Please do not focus for 3-5Y term. Please focus for real long term say 25-30-35Years.

    Thanks

    Ashal
