I have two things to ask:
1. I see some active users in this forum, obviously they provide good advice and I wonder what do they do about their money. This question is for you guys. Do you manage your money yourself ? or Do you also go to financial planner or portfolio services?
2. For me I generally do it myself, not in any complex way. Have kept it simple. I have created my goals like what do I want to save for, how much I want to save and have earmarked set of Mutual funds for each goal and invest every month toward it. I read some popular finance magazines, Jagoinvestor blogs, and other popular websites and take tips from each one and implement also that I feel are right for me. Do you think I should still go to financial planner? If yes, who ? how do I find leading so to say “common man” financial planning agencies?

1. I’m doing it for myself on my own.
2. For your own life & needs no better than you can understand. If you are satisfied with the over all things happening to you & you do not feel requirement of visiting or contacting any specialist finance person, it’s good to keep on the same way. By the way, you are already availing the services of so many financial planners or advisers by reading mags, blogs, forums……
To go to a financial planner ‘ll be your personal call.

Hi Nitin,
You have a very valid point. Personally, I am a financial planner as well (by profession) and my academics (Chartered Accoutancy) as well practical experience (as an investment banker) gives me a good understanding of finance associated with common man !
It is okay to do you own financial planning – however, considering that you may not be aware of all aspects associated with your financial planning, it is a good idea to consult a financial planner.
