Direct Investment in MF

POSTED BY SIVA PRASAD RAVIRALA ON October 2, 2012 12:28 pm COMMENTS (3)

Dear Sir,

Recently, I heard that we can invest in MF directly thru AMC,. Presently, Iam investing thru Funds India.com. In what way it is beneficial to stop in Funds India and invest directly thru AMC Website? Funds India is not charging, any amount, me.

If so, we have to depend on other website track all investments in one place (like value research or moneycontrol.com)

Please advice in this regard.

Thank You

R Siva Prasad

    Shiva Prasad,

If and when the direct scheme comes in and AMC comes out with plans .People have to decide. If there is a 0.5% difference between direct and distributor(Fundsindia) route then it would be advisable to move to direct route as this 0.5% will make a huge difference in your corpus over a long term like 15+ years.

But remember you will loose out on the convenience of single login for all the scheme that fundsindia offers.

I highly suspect there will be 0.5% difference. There might be a difference of 0.2% which is what i am expecting in which case i am willing to pay for the convenience that fundsindia gives me

but i think , it would change after dt.01.01.2013,when the as per new Sebi’s rules, the direct plan for every mutual fund will be there. VRO says ‘ industry insiders estimate that direct investors could have an advantage of about 0.5 to 1 per cent per year for equity funds. Over five years, this would accumulate to an impact of about 5.2 per cent.’ please refer

Funds India is as good as directly investing in AMC. Good thing with Funds India is that you can get the funds from different so you have all your investment only at one place so easy to track and manage.
