CIBIL Score update

Hi All,

In the year 2008, Standard chaterred bank offered me a credit card and during the intial phase I was told that there are no annual fees. But after an year or two, I received a letter stating that to pay the annual fees and I sent them an email stating the same. Below is the email transcript.

Below is the email sent on 2nd Feb 2011.

“My card number is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. When I was offered this card, I was told that it is absolutely free and I see annual fee and service tax is levied on my card.

Could you please waive off the Annual fee and service tax for the same.”

As expected I didn’t get any email response from them. I tried callign them and sending an emails but all in vain.

On 26th May 2011, I sent another email as below:

“My card number is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

I haven’t used this card and I requested for closure of the card long time back. But still I am receiving the SMS alerts and the Credit bills.

Please block this card if it is still active and I am not using this.

And also I request you to waive off what ever balance in my card is, which I haven’t used at all.

Let me know if you need any further information.”

This time I got an email acknowledging the same as below:

“Dear Mr. Upadrasta,
 
This is with reference to your e-mail dated May 26, 2011.

We wish to apprise that the card has been already invalidated in our records.

We wish to apprise that the card has been billed with Annual fees, and financial
charges. we have arranged to reverse the same.

Post reversal there will be NIL outstanding in the card account.

Assuring you of our best service always,

Yours sincerely,
 
Keerthi
Officer – Customer Care”

I was happy that they closed my card and invalidated. But to my surprise I checked my CIBIL score after an year and still see that the card was shown. I sent an email to them referring the same on May 14th 2012 as below:

“My card number is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

I haven’t used this card and I requested for closure of the card long time back. But still I am receiving the SMS alerts and the Credit bills.
The last mail which I have got was on 27th May stating that
“We wish to apprise that the card has been billed with Annual fees, and financial
charges. we have arranged to reverse the same.

Post reversal there will be NIL outstanding in the card account.”

May I know why I still get credit card bills coming to the billing Address.”

To that I received a response from standard chattered ank saying that:

“This is with reference to your e-mail dated May 14, 2012.

Our records indicate that, your card ending XXXX has been blocked with effect
from February 09, 2011.

As on date there is an credit balance of Rs.2,311.89 in your card ending 7744.
Hence statement has been sent to you.

We request you to ignore the statement received at your end.

Assuring you of our best services always”

But still today my CIBIL score card shows as DAYS PAST DUE and due to that it effected my score very badly.

I sent this as a dispute to CIBIL and they acknowledged that they checked with the standard chattered bank and what ever is shown on the CIBIL report is correct.

Not sure how do I close this issue and improve my score.

  1. Dear Madhava, please pay those 2500-2800 Rs. dues & get it rectified in your CIBIL score. that’s the only way to solve the situation now.
