ONI am newbie in credit card. Recently I applied for HDFC credit card and received HDFC platinum edge credit card. I understood all the charges levied by the bank. But as my card is cash back card I am unable to understand benefits of this credit card. As I fill
As I fill fuel frequently, I will use my card for filling fuel. But in terms and conditions of card it is said that “Fuel Surcharge Waiver capped at Rs. 250 every billing cycle\” Now what does it really mean? Can I spend beyond Rs250 without any service tax or charges by card? Or I can just fill fuel of Rs. 250 in every billing cycle?

Thanks .. Explained clearly..
who is the beneficiary of fuel surcharge whether the Govt, or Acquiring bank who installs POS machines ?
I am not sure on that!
i used fill fuel for 1000 everymonth do i need to pay any amount on year basis or monthly basis so far it is called as fuel surcharge ??
Hi sakthivel
This is very specific query which you should follow up with the concerned authority only. We wont be able to comment on that

If I fill the fuel of Rs 10000 in a month should I have to pay any surcharge
I dont think so
When you buy the fuel , there is something called Fuel survharge which is charged from you , with this card, that charge is waived off and you dont have to pay for it. For example , if fuel surchange is 2% . So if you fill Rs 100 petrol, you also pay Rs 2 as surcharge , so you pay Rs 102
Now if you use card for payment, you dont pay that Rs 2, so Rs 2 is waived off. However the maximum amount waived off is Rs 250 in a month . So if you buy fuel of Rs 50,000 in a month, the fuel surcharge @2% should be Rs 1,000 . so Rs 250 is waived off and Rs 750 is to be paid !
The above numbers are just for illustration .

Uska mtlb ye hai ki agar m 20000 ka monthly diesel or petrol dalwata hu to muje charge lagenge.
currently fuel surcharge is 2.5% so you can fill fuel fo rs12000 without any charges
thank you so much that was really helpful..
Thank you Clearly Explained…….
Yup.. Correct … Cheers & Thanks
its not correct.
That’s quite a detailed explanation. But if I ask for Petrol Pump for Rs 100 fuel, i pay 100 only. I do not pay 102 (considering the numbers in your illustration).
Does 100 already include certain% of surcharge?
If you are making the payment by cash then fine .. but if you are making it by card, then you might see some additional charge after few days .. (on some cards, not all)
What is they are giving you petrol only for ₹97.5 when you pay 100. If you pay with SBI Card still you get only perol for ₹97.5 but bank will credit you ₹2.5.
