ONHi Jagoinvestor members,
While searching for online term insurance, I came across two different products from ICICI – icare & iprotect. The premium for iprotect is less as compared to icare. Can someone please help me understand what is the difference between these products ?
Thanks

Further to this, I am advised that iCARE is available for NRI. On the ICICI portal, they have an option for NRI to fill in the form, but at the end of the process ICICI pru simply rejected saying “Given this information, we cannot provide you insurance cover”.
It was probably something specific in my profile, otherwise while filling the form it is clear that that they are open to sell the plan for NRIs.
Yes, there is something in your profile (income, country) .
Hi
If I take this Term insurance this year and next year if am out of country for 3-5years, then will this policy continue.
And also if something goes wrong and unfortunate, which cause some death/Disability, will the lump-sum is paid to nominee.
Please suggest.
Th
Yes, it will be still valid !
Can a heart patients who is 35 years old get a term plan ?
I just called the customer care. They clarified that iCare and iProtect are both term plans
In iProtect, there are discounted premiums for non-smokers; while in iCare its same for both smokers and non smokers.
In iProtect medical tests are prerequisite, in iCare medical tests are not required.
Finally got the answer from ICICI. Both the products are almost same except :
Medical is not required below 30 lakhs & 1 Crore in iProtect and iCare respectively.
iProtect premium are significantly lower than iCare specially for Non- Smoker. Unfortunately I can not buy it as this product is not available to NRIs 🙁
Actually either of the plan is not being offered to NRIs.
Do you know of any term plans applicable to NRIs? I tried policybazaar.com, but they have some site related issues when an NRI tries to search for such policies.
Go for hdfc click to protect plus
OK thanks for finding it out for us Arpit !
I think Maximum sum assured is Different both the plans with few more points. Icare has unlimited Max sum assured and iProtect has max 50 lakh.
Manish kindly correct me if I am wrong.
I think iCare was the old name of the plan . It then launched with another name iProtect .
Thanks Manish for the reply. See the below link, both plans are available :

Let me check and come back ..
Hi Manish,
Did you get a chance to look at it ?
Thanks
No Arpit
Not yet, I am not getting time for this due to my schedule . Have you searched it on net from your side ? Have you done your 100% search . Why not you mail ICICI itself on this ? Talk to their customer care and also update us on it !
