Write Off Status in CIBIL even after having NOC

POSTED BY yogesh66 ON February 18, 2014 2:08 pm COMMENTS (2)

Sir, In year 2006 , I have taken a loan of Rs. 150000.00 from IDBI bank. After paying certain installments ,there is default from my end. They have filed a case against me. In year 2013 , we have mutually settled this loan at Rs. 1.5 lakhs and they had given me the NOC. Recently I have checked my CIBIL report and it shows that this loan is mentioned as written off. Banks are not ready to give me further loan.

Can you suggest me something to clear this ?

    Dear Yogesh,

As stated by Ashal above, the status on your credit report would be updated to “Settled” from “Written off”. Kindly note two points with this regard:

    1) Settlement and Written off, both are negative remarks since they indicate your inability to service the EMI. Nevertheless, you should get the status updated to Settled.

    2) Your credit report would have a section “DPD” that reports the late payments by the number of days. This data would remain the same even if you opt to remove the Settled or Written off remark by repaying the complete outstanding amount.

Dear Yogesh, as you settled the loan with a reduced amount not for actual due amount, you should ask IDBI to update your status from written off to settled. This way you can at least get few space to negotiate with your banks.

    Thanks

    Ashal
