Sir,

I m fresher about credit cards.. From your site, I felt the Citi rewards platinum card is good. But they’ll be charging Rs 1000, if I didn’t spend 30000/year.. ICICI says no fees.. I’m applying credit card because if I need money immediately in case of emergency, I don’t have any resources to get money.. So kindly suggest me which card do I go for and common fees charges about credit cards pls…

Dear Naveen, do you know the rate of interest charged on cash withdrawal from ATMs on a Credit Card? Please read a bit for the same. If you are not aware – in case of Cash withdrawal, there is no free credit period. The interest is calculated from the same day you withdrew the amount and to top it, you are charged cash transaction fee also.

Now do tell me, w’d you still use Credit card for money withdrawal in case of emergency?

    Thanks

    Ashal

    Dear Naveen,

Please understand first that credit card is not for an emergency money. In case you have to take money (cash withdrawal) on your credit card, it will come with heavy interest rate and would be really difficult to repay that loan so easily.

Credit card is a facility to use card instead of cash and also enjoy a free credit period, never consider this as an emergency cash (ATM) card. For emergency sake, you should always create a fund to safeguard rather than relying on a credit card cash withdrawal option.

As for the credit card, you may choose any co-branded credit card from ICICI or HDFC bank, depending upon your usage.
