What is the purpose of the accidental death benefit rider?

I fail to understand the purpose of the accidental death benefit rider. Once the life assured is no more, how does it matter if the death was natural or accidental? Do the nominees need more money just because the death was due to an accident ?

    Thanks Tushar and Ashal.

Anyone on the forum who has opted for the ADB rider along with your term life policy,
can you share your thought process about the rider? Why did you go for the rider?

Dear Tushar, I do not recommend Accidental Rider. Instead I ask people to opt for Accidental policy from general insurers which has wider coverage than this Rider. Now there may be a situation, you are injured in an accident, did not die but got disable and no more eligible to continue your work, even in this case, the sum assured from Accident policy ‘ll take care of financial needs partially if not full.

    Thanks

I think the questioner did not needed the meaning of accidental death rider.
He (& me too) want to know: what is the significance of the accidental death benefit rider.
The nominee gets more money when insured person’s death is occurred due to accident.
    How does this matter?

Dear Nsabhayankar, in case the death happens due to a defined accident (as per Rider T&C), apart from regular sum assured, the Rider sum assured ‘ll also be paid. But if death does not happen due to accident, Rider money ‘ll not be paid.

    Thanks

    Ashal
