Hi, I want to spend some money in mutual funds, so need information which mutual fund is best and what are the procedure and what would be minimum amount require to start this ,i am looking this for long term investment .

My dear friend according to me Birla Sun Life Mutual fund is the best. It is just my personal choice. Opinions might differ here. The reason being I found their procedures hassle free and their customer service very friendly. For more details about the policies etc. you can check their website. For investments purposes they allows to invest as low as 1000 on a monthly basis. They have many plans for individual needs. They recommend minimum investment tenure of 3 years. Choice will be yours. Consult an expert before making a decision.

Well when you are ready to build a mutual fund portfolio, the first thing you should understand about asset allocation – i.e. in what proportion you want to mix different asset classes (equity, bonds, fixed income, gold, cash etc), that will keep a balance between growth and stability and help you to reach your goals. And then you need to decide what percentage of your portfolio should form the core (Large cap funds, Large-mid cap funds or balanced funds with good track records are ideal candidate to be a core fund) and other set of non-core or satellite funds (will add some jinks to your portfolio. It will be bringing extra growth with a bit of risk in your portfolio. Small cap- mid cap funds or well performing sector funds are ideal candidate).
