What are Demat transaction charges ?

Hi,

While I was checking with an online trading website, there is a charge of Rs. 15 when I sell every time some shares from my account. When I enquired with them, they said that these are called ‘Demat transaction charges’ and these are charged by every DP as these charges are levied by Depository.

Does every DP charges such charges??  Please enlighten me on this.

    Dear Hemanth, yes is the answer. This 15 Rs. charge is levied by the depository NSDL or CDSL as the case may be. The info given to you is correct.
