Unsure about annual return for mutual funds investment for last many years ?

POSTED BY rajan.panchal24 ON April 3, 2014 8:31 pm COMMENTS (4)

Hi All,

I have a portfolio of mutual funds (on fundsindia.com) where as of today I can see the annual returns as 17.61%. but these number keeps changing everyday. I started investing in 2011 now I want to know what was my annualized return for year 2011, 2012 and 2013. How can I get that?

Thanks,

Rajan

Dear Rajan, you can get annual performance from SIP calculators on VROL or MC or Morningstar.

    Thanks

Dear Rajan, please do not check your fundsindia account after every 10 min. As rightly pointed out by dear Hemanth above, the return shown to you by fundsindia are CAGR (XIRR) and ‘ll change as per change in your funds’ NAV.

    Thanks

    Ashal

Ashal, thats true.. I understand it keeps changing.. but I want to get the annual returns for the past years since i started investment. I want to understand how my portfolio performed in 2011, 2012 and 2013..

It would be helpful if someone can elaborate on how do I calculate that?

      Thanks,
      Rajan

    Dear Rajan,

As the NAV of the fund changes daily, the annual returns changes accordingly daily .

Please use ‘XIRR’ function in excel to know the annual returns of your investments.

    Regards,
    Hemanth.
