that is right, cbs is excellent way , but when the account gets matured you will need a visit to the home branch, and if you are shifting far away than this issue of transfering account will arise, unless you want to travel to the old place of your work
Dear Sandhu, again the procedure ‘ll remain same but as you are transferring between 2 different entities, the time taken ‘ll be longer than within the same. To convert minor account to major, please arrange PAN card in advance if not arranged already & after that visit the branch/PO with residence proof & PAN card.

things which are so logical and simple also get complecated because of what is called BEUROCRACY. ( earlier i used to think only IAS are beurocrats, but actually a clerk sitting across the counter starts behaving like a BEUROCRATE( what ever it actually means ). i find easier to get that chap removed from his chair than to show him logic.

Still If you want to transfer, please contact the branch where you want to transfer & had over your updated PPF passbook (please keep a photo copy for your own records) & fill a transfer request there & you ‘ll get your account transferred in next few days.
