Hi,

I amount investing in HDFC TOP 200(GROWTH) since last 5 years via SIP and I am still continuing it. Now I am planning to reedem 3 years old SIP amount. So would like to check with you whether this possible, if so, What is the tax implication for the redeemed amount.

Thanks,

  1. Hemanth says:

No Tax will be there on equity funds redeemed after 1 year . HDFC Top 200 is a equity fund. so u cna go ahead. No tax applicable.

  2. RahulMalhotra says:

    Hi Chetan,

    Tax will be zero.

If you redeem the amount (SIP or lumpsum) older than one year then the capital gain will be ‘long term capital gain’ and there is no tax on LTCG in case of Equity mutual funds. HDFC TOP 200 is an equity mutual fund.

Don’t hesitate to ask if you have more doubts!
    Thank you.
