Tax adjustment for long term capital loss with indexation on Mutual Fund

POSTED BY Amit Kumar Singh ON December 27, 2013 6:16 pm COMMENTS (2)

Hi,

My mutual fund statement is showing long term capital gain with indexation = Rs. -4064 and long term capital gain without indexation = Rs. -392 for FY 2013-2014.

So effectively I have occur losses on selling my mutual funds. While filing IT return do I need to show losses as per long term capital gain with indexation or without indexation ?

Thanks & regards

Amit

Dear Amit, from which funds these LTCLs are coming? Debt fund or Eq. fund?

    thanks

As far as I know a Long Term Capital Loss can be settled with only Long term Capital gains. So unless you have some capital gain in the same FY, there is no point in adding the capital loss.

Let’s wait for expert’s advice – Ashal should be replying soon 🙂
