My Answer:
Infrastructure as a theme was started in 2003-04 at that time exposure of infrastructure based sector was not more than 25% in diversified equity funds. But now compare portfolio of diversified equity fund with any infrastructure funds and you will find that exposure in infrastructure related stocks has gone up to 60-70% of overall portfolio. So now investing in infra funds means increasing risk of your mutual fund portfolio. Other important point is SBI Infrastructure fund is under-performer; it stands in bottom 10% funds with meager returns of 13.29% in 1 year & -1.26% returns in 3 years. 3 years is a good period to judge performance of any fund, I would suggest you to book loss in this fund. You should invest this amount through 6 months Systematic Investment Plan in some good diversified equity fund like DSPBR Equity Fund or HDFC Top 200 Fund.
SBI Infrastructure fund is under-performer in this market. This is not a good fund. I would suggest to book your loss in this fund now as market is good now, & enter in some good equity diversified mutual fund later like Reliance regular Savings Fund – equity or ICICI Pru discovery fund. You can also consider SBI Contra Fund also.
Hope it will help you.
