Hello Experts,

I have one account in SBI Bank in a Branch in Kolkata. For last 2-3 years there was no transaction made. Now when I transferred money to this account from another bank  and checked the balance from one ATM ,the transferred amount is shoing as Available Rs. but the Account Rs. is showing as ‘NOT AVAILABLE’.

What could be the reason behind this. I think ideally the transferred amount should be shown as Account balance.

Please help with the possible reason for this. Thakns in advance!!!

Thanks & Regards,

Hafizul Mollah

As you are not using your account for more than an year, the account might have been become dormant. That might be the reason for your issue.

Please go to the bank branch or call their customer care. They will be able to sort it out.

Thanks Hemanth and Ashal for the valuable inputs. As I was using it after 2-3 years , I also thought the account may got inactive , so I tried to withdraw som e money from ATM and I was able to withdraw the money successfully and thought the account should be active as it is allowing me to withdraw the money.

I called customer care as well , they are saying the branch has put my money ON HOLD and that is why it is not showing as account balance , not able to say the reason of holding it.

Anyway , Thanks again to both of you!!! I will go to the branch to activate the account again.
