I am not sure but i opened the account in Bangalore last July i think and that guy told me its mendatory. But i did not even care when he told Rs 100 for 4L.
I dont think that is was mandatory to buy this policy before opening sbi savings account, i was not having such a compulsion when i opened the account, and even if its a compulsion, i dont think anybody will object as Rs 100/ yr in return of 4,00,000 always a good deal to have. Again its my personal opinion others may have different opinion.

I am not sure but it was kind of mendatory when i opened my account ( I may be wrong or ne may discontinue premimum after first year). If its misselling also i dont mind as 4,00,000 cover for just rs 100 a year is simply incredible.
Biswa Singh I dont see how accident cover is linked to SBI account. I think this is blatant mis-selling. one can complain to ombudsman reg. such cases
100 rs for 4,00,000 cover is worth considering it. Also this is madatory to take when you open SBI account these days.
A personal accident policy is essential for everyone especially if an accident could imply loss of income.
You should look at the features and compare with other policies before deciding.
All of the are quite cheap in terms of premium
