If you are looking at opening a salary account with SBI for benefits attached with a salary account then having your salary transferred to SBI by employer may not work. For seeking the benefits, employer must have a corporate salary arrangement with the bank, which in your case may not be possible.
Dear Naveen,
Please enquire with your finance dept. Many times, they allow any bank even if it not listed as preferred bank. If that is the case with your company also, you do not need to open any unwanted salary account and can receive salary in your SBI savings account.
Thanks,
Vivek

Dear Naveen, nothing can be done here. Open the account in the bank where you are comfortable from the approved bank list of your employer.
Thanks
