Retirement pension plans for NRI – Please help me become financially wise

POSTED BY financedan ON May 12, 2014 3:00 pm ONE COMMENT

Im 36 years old and just now realized I havent done anything towards my retirement corpus. I am an NRI and have invested quite some money in lands, gold ETFs, equities and recently started a SIP plan with ICICI MF (10k per month). I am also investing 1 lakh per year on my wife’s PPF account for 2 years (which she started before becoming a NRI).

My question to the fellow members is how about investing in ICICI Pru Easy Retirement- A Pension Plan with an option of Equity-linked Return and Premium Guarantee.

I choose this plan because it seems hassle free, provide my spouse to enjoy pension after my demise and importantly the amount invested will be returned to the nominees after we both die. I am planning to invest around 1.2 lakhs per year for 20 years. Please let me know if my selection is financially wise.
