Restaurant tip money charged via Credit Cards without permission

Hi,

I have a query regarding the processing of Tip amount by restaurants by means of credit cards.  I noticed that tips can be provided to the restaurant by manually writing them in the credit card transaction slip.

Can somebody explain how is this process working. Also I have a query: What is the possibility of restaurant people writing the tip by themselves in case I haven\’t specified anything. And how to handle in case of disputes. And how to prevent this misuse.

Thanks in Advance,  Shinoj Jose

The tip is added later to the credit card charge. To prevent misuse, strike out that area and clearly write the total (again, even if it is the same)

Dear Shinoj Jose, better to ask this bluntly before eating in a Restaurant.

    thanks
