Query on tax deduction

Do we have separate exemption for medical insurance premium apart from 100000 limit in general and 20000 in infrastructure category? Does this mean we can have deduction of upto 135000 from our salary?

Yes, separate deduction for medical insurance up to 15000. Also if you take medical insurance for your parents that will give you additional deduction up to 15000.

So, in total you can get upto 150000 (100000+20000+15000+15000) deduction (80C, 80D, 80CCF)

Dear Rajat, In the reply provided by dear Jayaprakash reddy, there is a small correction, If one of your parent is Sr. Citizen (more than 65Y old for current FY & more than 60Y from 1st April 2011 onwards), The mediclaim prem. upto 20K is eligible for deduction.

      Thanks
