Hi,

I am investing in below funds from couple of months thru SIP route.

Franklin India Bluechip fund (1000rs)

HDFC Prudence (1000rs)

Quantum Long term equity (500rs)

SBI Mid-cap opportunities (500rs)

also investing in PPF, FD and RD regularly.

Now I am planning to invest in PPFAS 1000rs SIP. I have read Manish’s reply on one of his recent article on jagoinvestor blog.  I liked what they mentioned in website and I trust them. Please provide your valuable suggestion.

Thanks,

Chetan

Thanks a lot Dear Ashal.. I wont add any more funds now. Will just increase d amount in QLTE and FTBC funds…

  2. Dear Chetan, OK, please continue with your existing funds but do not add more funds to add clutter.

    Thanks

    Ashal

  3. Dear Chetan, as the confusion is over for SBI EM, no issue. Please continue with your existing funds. Regarding Prudence, I want to know if PF & PPF investments are there already, do you need Prudence at all in your portfolio?

    Think over it.

    Thanks

    Ashal

Dear Ashal, yes.. EPF and PPF both are running. Reason I am investing in Prudence is I am an average risk taker and also performance of Prudence is almost similar to other equity diversified funds. Its gives me peace of mind too. So I wont add more funds to my portfolio now but just increase some amount in QLTE and FTBC.

    Dear Ashal,

Sorry for the confusion. I am referring to SBI Emerging Businesses Fund.

I think I have clearly mentioned about my queries in previous replies except confusion with SBI Mid-cap with SBI Emerging Business fund.

Could you please look at my queries in previous replies?

  5. Dear Chetan, I tried to look for SBI Midcap Opportunity fund but unable to find it. Which fund you are referring to? Please elaborate. Are you invested in PF & PPF? If yes, please think for Prudence.

    Thanks

    Ashal

Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to SBI Emerging Businesses Fund. I am aware that it very risky fund but with high return potential. That’s the reason I am investing only small chunk in it.
When you say “try and book profit from it and invest in FTBC or in debt”, u mean to say when SBI Emerging Fund is in Profit I have to redeem and invest that amt?
Increasing the amount for FTBC and QLTE looks good to you?

    1. if the SBI fund has a bumper year like in 2012 then book some profit from it and either transfer to debt or FTBC or QLTE. Bumper years will usually be followed by huge dips. You could protect yourself to a certain extent this way

Thanks a lot dear FFC, As you suggested its good to transfer the profits from SBI Emerging to Debt or FTBC or QLTE.

  7. Chetan, they themselves don’t trust them!

    Remember what their website says:

Past performance of the Sponsor, PPFAS Limited may not have any bearing on the performance of PPFAS Long Term Value Fund.

Invest but no need for hero worship. It just another fund investing in risky assets!

      Dear FCC, Thanks you suggestion.
Are the funds selected above good? I am planning toadd one more fund from large cap; ICICI Prudential Top 100 or DSP BR Top 100.
Is it good to put more money in Franklin or open one more fund?

      1. You dont need more funds just increase your investment in QLTE.
This SBI Mid-cap opportunities is not really necessary in my view.

        1. Chetan Ambi says:

          Dear FFC,
Any specific reason for not considering SBI mid-cap? Do u you want consider any other mid-cap fund instead of it?
Per your suggestion I am planning to put 500 more on Frankling and 1000 more in QTLE.
          So Franklin Rs.1500 & QLTE Rs.1500

          1. by SBI mid-cap do mean SBI Emerging Businesses Fund? If so continue with it. I mistook it for something else.
            Good fund but very risky.

Between FTBC and QLTE you have stability performance and diversification. The SBI fund will give some extra kick. try and book profit from it and reinvest in FTBC or in debt so that there is good steady portfolio growth
