Please suggest me some Investment options for my surplus amount

Dear Guru,

I am a Civil Engineer, working with a reputed construction company in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. My wife is Assistant Faculty in English Speaking institute. Our combine income is Rs. 41000/-. We are staying in a rented apartment. Our monthly savings after deducting house rent, EMIs, etc. is Rs. 16000/-. Please guide me by suggesting some investment options.

    1. Accumulate emergency fund – 3-6 months of your expenses which will be useful in case of emergencies. Put this money in bank a/c or FD or liquid fund as they have high liquidity and low risk.

    2. Take term insurance

    3. Take health insurance.

    4. List out your goals – short term, long term and invest in MF, PPF accordingly.
