I recently registered myself with income tax of india website and found out that it was showing an outstanding tax demand on my account for assessment year 2008-09. Since the amount was small, INR 2000, I paid it online and have challan print out with me. It’s been 10 days now, but the online status has still not changed, and it still shows the outstanding tax demand against my name (same one). Do I need to do anything else like filing any return forms etc to change the online status? How long it takes to revise the status which will reflect my payment and show outstanding demand as NIL?
