Opening PPF for my wife instead for myself

Hello Manish,

I do not have any PPF account till date. And I’m quite jittery about opening with SBI. My wife has a Savings bank account with ICICI and hence I will be able to open the PPF account quite easily with them through the web banking channel.

1. Are there any repercussions on opening a PPF account for my wife rather, for my self ?
2. Will there be any issues for her for opening this account as she is not working.

    Dear Harpreet, please go ahead & open one account under her name. You ‘ll be able to save tax for the investment done under her name in PPF.
