   You are right.

   The PPF account can be opened at ANY SBI bank branch, NOT just only at some designated branches. Simply create the online application and submit it at the branch.

   If the branch refuses raise a complaint at https://prepaid.onlinesbi.com/CMS/

   I learnt this hard way.. after multiple discussions with the branch manager I got fed up, went and opened the account in a previously designated PPF branch. There they told me I could have opened at my home branch itself.

   I raised a complaint to my branch via https://prepaid.onlinesbi.com/CMS/

   Manager immediately called and accepted his ignorance and confirmed the PPF account can be opened at any branch, offered to transfer my PPF account to my home branch 🙂

   Dear Newbee, in CBS system, your account can be opened anywhere. What I understand from your reply – the branch staff does not want to co-operate with you. Actually the availability of all branch in netbanking itself indicates that the branch staff is either ignorant of rules or do not want to do the job. An option is to ask for a circular from branch manager that PPF account can be opened in PPF enabled branches only.

   It’s clearly written there. I quote from above link.
   Quote –
   1. ELIGIBILTY – Individuals in their own name as well as on behalf of a minor can open the account at any Branch.

   Unquote – you may take print out of the above link along with you and contact your branch manager.

      Dear Ashal, I already checked with the branch staff, they told me I need to visit a PPF branch. I am not sure what they saying is true or they are not aware of the process.

      Are they bound to accept my application, since the netbanking allows any branch to be selected or is this a problem with netbanking.

      could you pls clarify.
