Mutual Funds that use Value Investing methods

POSTED BY Ram ON February 4, 2011 11:28 am COMMENTS (3)

What are the mutual funds that strictly use value investing methods in their investments (both approach and selection of stocks)?

Also, these funds should have shown and demonstrated this approach in their actions as well since they floated their fund.

Thanks,

Ram.

  2. Actually, most fund managers will say that they are using value-investing method to some extent or the other. Nobody is going to say that they are buying stocks at valuations that they think are too high.

So, at the end of the day, you have to just go with a quality manager and trust him/her. As Ramesh points out above, good multi-cap and small-mid cap funds are your best bets.

I would add HDFC Mid cap opportunities and IDFC Premier equity fund to the list, as well as ICICI Pru Dynamic fund. Please note that IDFC PEF is available only for SIP investments.

Templeton India Growth fund and Templeton India Equity Income fund are large-cap oriented multicap value funds.

ICICI Discovery and Templeton Smaller companies are small-mid cap oriented value funds.

Sundaram Taxsaver is a value-growth (=blended) taxsaver fund.
