LTCG calculation for Residential Plot which does not have registry

Booked a plot in Nov 2010. Received Provisional Allotment Letter in Feb 2011. Took Home Loan in Feb 2010 and paid in Feb 2011. Got Offer of possession in Jan 2012. Paid all of the Possession Money in March 2012. Paid up the Home Loan in 2012. All the original docs/receipts are with me. There is no registry.

Queries:

a)What would be considered as the plot purchase date? b) Would I get LTCG benefit if I sell the plot in March 2014? If not then till when should I hold the plot to get the same?

    Dear Joe, as the final payment was made in 2012, it’s advisable to hold the property till 2015 at least to be eligible for LTCG.
